 OECD recommendations

Productivity growth has been slow. Competition in the telecoms and energy sectors needs to be sharpened. Support to agriculture should be further curtailed, and more free-trade agreements should be concluded. Greater female market employment should be promoted to increase inclusiveness and ensure that women’s large stock of skills are fully utilised.

  • Increasing the supply of childcare facilities and introduce individual taxation to improve labour participation of women.
  • Extend the network of free-trade agreements, including with India.
  • Step up public funding of pre-schools and increase enrolment of immigrant children. Improve access to tertiary education for poorer students.
  • Shift taxes towards indirect taxation.
