Regional responses to COVID-19: recovery and resilience

WHAT'S THE ISSUE?

COVID-19 has hit regions across the world but timing and impacts have differed. While the economic crisis is profound and geographically diverse, the regional and local impact of the crisis is also highly heterogeneous - with significant implications for crisis management and policy responses. The crisis has been felt acutely by business as well as more generally at the local and personal level.

Equally, countries need to strengthen their regions to become more resilient to crises and other types of risk - regions, cities and rural areas are important players for restoring productivity growth.

WHAT CAN THE OECD OFFER?

The OECD, through its Digital Hub on Tackling the Coronavirus, has produced policy responses across diverse sectors including multiple regional, local and city responses. These papers are updated regularly as the crisis evolves.
