OECD-World Bank Conference on building financial capability in Africa and the Middle East

 

A Dissemination Conference for the Africa and MENA regions of
the Russia/World Bank/OECD Financial Literacy and Education Trust Fund

30-31 January 2013

Nairobi, Kenya

Organised by the OECD and the World Bank, this Regional Dissemination Conference on Building Financial Capability presented the work of the Russia/OECD/World Bank Trust Fund on Financial Literacy and Education and addressed specificities in the African and the MENA regions, including:

  • Development and implementation of national strategies for financial education
  • Measurement of financial literacy, capability and inclusion, international evidence and selected regional examples
  • Design, implementation and results of impact evaluation studies of financial education programmes
  • Good practices and evaluation of financial education in schools and for youth

The conference was supported by the Capital Markets Authority, the Central Bank of Kenya, the Insurance Regulatory Authority and the Retirement Benefits Authority of Kenya.

This conference was attended by high-level African, OECD and World Bank representatives, high-level officials and experts from ministries of finance and education, central banks, regulatory and supervisory authorities, officials of State governments and international organisations, the private sector, the academic and civil community as well as NGOs.
