10:30-11:00 Session 1. Update on the OECD Recommendation on Policy Coherence for Sustainable Development

The OECD Recommendation on PCSD aims to provide a comprehensive standard to assist governments at all levels to equip policymakers with essential mechanisms and policy tools to support and promote coherent policies for sustainable development. This session will explore how the PCSD Recommendation can be implemented at the national level, focusing on country-level needs and challenges, and how progress can be monitored. The session will also provide an opportunity for national focal points, in a tour the table, to share experiences and highlight new developments in their efforts to enhance PCSD. It will also provide a good opportunity to identify priorities for implementation and explore ways in which the OECD can support country efforts.

14:00 - 16:00 Session 2. How to move from principles to action?

OECD experience on promoting policy coherence shows that there is no single blueprint. Each country must determine its institutional mechanisms and processes in accordance with its national circumstances. Nevertheless, there are common principles for PCSD which apply to countries governments from different political and administrative traditions, and through the mutual exchange of experiences and discussions on what works and what does not, countries can identify solutions to effectively enhance PCSD. This session will discuss country-level experiences and good examples of policy coherence for SDG implementation at the subnational, national and international levels. It will provide the basis for developing concrete, measurable and achievable guidance which will accompany the Recommendation to support countries in implementation.

16:00 – 17:30 Session 3. Targeting country level work

This session will explore existing and new initiatives, which can help mobilise OECD expertise to support countries in enhancing policy coherence in the implementation of the SDGs. It will highlight examples of how the principles of the PCSD Recommendation are applied in existing OECD initiatives supporting countries in strengthening their institutional frameworks for SDG implementation.
