OECD Secretary-General to participate in public administration reform seminar in Madrid on Monday 15 July 2013

 

12/07/2013 –  The Spanish government has launched a series of ambitious public administration reforms as part of wider efforts to promote economic competitiveness and strengthen trust in government and public institutions.

 

The OECD has wide-ranging experience in public administration reform, both in the country-specific context and in the establishment of international best practices.

 

OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría will discuss best practices for public sector reform alongside Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría Antón, Vice-president of the Spanish Government, Minister of the Presidency and Spokesperson, during the opening session of a seminar co-hosted with the International Ibero-American Foundation of Administration and Public Policies (FIIAAP). Pío García-Escudero, President of the Spanish Senate, will present opening remarks during the event, which takes place at the Palacio del Senado on Monday 15 July, from 9:00 a.m.

 

International panellists from OECD member countries will share experiences in large-scale public administration reform. Speakers will address the common challenges in implementing such initiatives, including a dialogue on key drivers and management tools to ensure the effectiveness, impact and sustainability of reform measures.

 

The seminar forms part of an OECD Public Governance Review that will assess the new Spanish refom package in light of international practice and offer good practice for implementation.
