    2019 SEARP Regional Forum

    I am delighted to welcome you to the 6th Forum of our Southeast Asia Regional Programme (SEARP). Since Prime Minister Abe and I launched the SEARP in 2014, we have met in Bali, Jakarta, Hanoi, Bangkok and Tokyo. Today, we meet in Paris at the OECD’s Headquarters. Welcome to our home – “nuestra casa es su casa!”

    I am delighted to be here to discuss how we need to change social norms to achieve gender equality, and to launch the new Social Institutions and Gender Index (SIGI) 2019 Global Report. We are also proud to be launching today a Spanish version of the Wikigender online platform which will allow Spanish-speaking communities around the world to share information on gender-transformative public policies and programmes.

    2019 Meeting of the Members of the Council on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

    This is a special year for the 2030 Agenda. In September, for the first time since the adoption of the SDGs, leaders will gather in New York for a comprehensive stock-taking exercise of global progress achieved this far. This will be a crucial exercise in helping us to reinvigorate our efforts, identify shortfalls and correct our course for the SDGs where we are not on track.
