During his meeting with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, A. Gurría said that the recovery from the crisis should not be jeopardised by a premature withdrawal of support measures. Countries must continue with stimulus and to withdraw them only once recovery is assured.

During a workshop on climate change organised by the European Union, Mr Gurría reminded that "far from perfect, the Copenhagen Accord is a hard-fought political agreement". He added that the world now needs to find an ambitious and legally-binding global agreement on climate change in Mexico and that the EU should continue to play a leading role for the negotiations.

Israel has weathered the recent recession very well and the policy responses have been appropriate. Nevertheless, long-term fiscal sustainability needs to be reinforced by bringing down public debt and the fruits of economic growth should be better redistributed to low-income households, said the OECD Secretary-General during his presentation of the report to the Prime Minister Netanyahu.
