THE OECD PRINCIPLES ON WATER GOVERNANCE
Water demand will increase 55% by 2050 due to growing demand from manufacturing, thermal electricity generation and domestic use. Managing and securing access to water for all is not only a question of money, but equally a matter of good governance.
The OECD Water Governance Principles provide the 12 must-do for governments to design and implement effective, efficient, and inclusive water policies. To date, the Principles have been endorsed by 170+ stakeholder groups or governments, which are gathered within the Global Coalition for Good water Governance by 35 OECD Member Countries, 7 Non-Member Countries and 140 Stakeholder Groups.

Implementing the OECD Principles on Water Governance
Three years after the adoption of the OECD Water Governance Principles, the OECD launched a report on Implementing the OECD Principles on Water Governance which takes stock of their use and dissemination.
The report proposes two major tools for interested cities, basins, regions and countries to strengthen their water policies:
1. First, it provides the The OECD Water Governance Indicator Framework, a self-assessment tool to measure, assess and take action collectively.
2. Second, it sets out 54 concrete stories illustrating the implementation of the OECD Principles on Water Governance.
