Climate Fund Inventory: report and database

Prepared for the G20 Climate Finance Study Group

The Climate Fund Inventory (CFI) database is a qualitative database of bilateral and multilateral public climate funds. This CFI initiative is in response to the proliferation of the number of climate funds that have been established to support countries with their climate change mitigation and adaptation actions, as well as readiness activities.  These climate-dedicated funds target different fields of ativities (e.g., adaptation, mitigation, REDD, capacity-building), sectors, regions, and enable support via different financing mechanisms.

The CFI aims to support recipient countries, such as Least Developed Countries in particular, by providing consolidated information on the number and types of climate funds that are available.  It is intended to help countries determine which of the various climate funds they may be most eligible for and/or best-suited to access.

The CFI database currently covers 99 climate funds.
