This virtual Global Forum encouraged active engagement from participants to further discussions important to the international climate negotiations, and to implement countries’ climate responses. The two focus topics for discussion were: Common Reporting Tables (CRTs) for the reporting of national greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, and how to encourage a sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. During this virtual Global Forum, participants had the opportunity to hear recent OECD and IEA analysis on the impacts and potential implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During this session, speakers and participants were invited to discuss key issues related to the overall structure of the tables, including typologies of tables to be included in the set of CRTs and any adjustments that may be needed to comply with new reporting requirements. During the session, participants also had the opportunity to discuss technical aspects and opportunities for the development of new reporting tools and software.
