Consultation on the Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN “Protect, Respect and Remedy” Framework

On 4 October 2010, Professor John Ruggie, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Human Rights and Transnational Corporations and other Business Enterprises, conducted a special consultation with the 42 adhering governments to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises to discuss the potential role of the Guidelines in the operationalisation of the UN “Protect, Respect and Remedy” Framework.

 

The consultation was attended by OECD Deputy Secretary-General Richard Boucher and representatives of emerging market countries, as well as BIAC, TUAC and OECD Watch, the accredited stakeholders for the update.
