Anticompetitive practices affecting international trade - OECD Recommendation concerning co-operation between OECD countries

International co-operation between OECD countries on anticompetitive practices affecting international trade has been in operation for more than 40 years based on a series of Council Recommendations which have been elaborated and progressively refined by the Competition Committee.

The Council Recommendation was last revised in 1995. The basic provisions of notification, exchange of information, consultation and conciliation have been completed by an interpretative appendix containing guiding principles about when and how to make use of the Recommendation and clarifying the principle of confidentiality of information disclosed. The 1995 Recommendation has proven to be an important instrument of international co-operation in the enforcement of competition laws.
