The OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) has completed a Special Review of Poland’s international development co-operation programme. This makes Poland the third country from beyond the DAC’s membership to undergo such a special review, after the Czech Republic in 2007 and Korea in 2008.
Poland (2010), DAC Special Review (pdf, 641 kB)
The Special Review’s findings and recommendations are captured in a Report. They were presented at a conference held in Warsaw on 17 May 2010. The report recommends that Poland should put in place a development co-operation policy that fully reflects international commitments such as the Millennium Development Goals and Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. It encourages Poland to set a clear path for aid increases, in line with its pledge to provide 0.33% of Gross National Income in Official Development Assistance by 2015. Moreover, Poland could achieve greater aid effectiveness by moving from small-scale aid projects to multi-year aid programmes.
The Special Review was a consultative process, drawing on the DAC’s experience and methodology in conducting Peer Reviews. Special Reviews are part of the DAC’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with other providers of development cooperation.
