OECD Secretary-General in Moscow (G20 meetings, 17th - 20th July 2013)

 

The Secretary-General of the OECD, Mr. Angel Gurría, was in Moscow, from 17th to 20th July 2013, to attend the G20 Labour Ministers Meeting & the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting.


At the G20 Labour and Employment Ministers meeting, he delivered a speech at the Second plenary session: “Labour Activation, Equity and Inclusion”.


At the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting, he delivered speeches at the sessions on:

  • Recent developments in the global economy & Framework for Strong, Sustainable and Balanced Growth
  • Financing for Investment
  • Addressing Base Erosion and Profit Shifting; Assistance in Recovery of Taxes; and other tax matters
  • Financial Regulation and Financial Inclusion


During his visit, Mr. Gurría also attended the L20 Summit, where he delivered remarks on “The Jobs Imperative- OECD support for the Russian G20 presidency”.


The Secretary-General, alongside ILO Director-General, Mr. Guy Ryder, also released updated G20 labour market data at a press conference on 17th June (more information).


Mr. Gurría also presented, at a joint press event, with Mr. Anton Siluanov, Minister of Finance of Russia, the “Action Plan on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting”.


While in Moscow, Mr. Gurría held several bilateral meetings with Labour Ministers from G20 countries.
