International organisations have initiated approaches to foster IPM implementation which are part of international legally or not legally binding documents or instruments.

In the European Union, over the last decade the legislation concerning pesticides was substantially revised. The revision resulted in new harmonised legislation for all 28 Member States concerning placing of pesticides on the market, provisions on the sustainable use of pesticides, machinery and the collection of pesticide use statistics. |
Many countries regulate the use of plant protection products or crop protection in national laws and regulations. National IPM policies are part of such national legislations. |
