OECD work on Cities

OECD events at 11th World Urban Forum (WUF)

26 - 30 June 2022 Katowice

The World Urban Forum (WUF) was established in 2001 by the United Nations to address one of the most pressing issues facing the world today: rapid urbanisation and its impact on communities, cities, economies, climate change and policies. Convened by UN-Habitat, the Forum is a high level, open and inclusive platform for addressing the challenges of sustainable urbanisation.

The 11th World Urban Forum will take place in Katowice, Poland from the 26-30 June 2022. The theme of WUF11, Transforming our Cities for a Better Urban Future, will provide greater insights and clarity on the future of cities based on existing trends, challenges and opportunities, as well as suggest ways cities can be better prepared to address future pandemics and a wide range of other shocks. WUF11 thematic areas are:

  • Equitable urban futures
  • Greener urban futures
  • Innovation and technology
  • Building urban resilience
  • Urban planning and governance
  • Future urban economy and finance

The OECD contributes to this important event through a series of side events, publications, and by taking part in a number of workshops, seminars and other events throughout the conference.
