Application requirements

Before applying to positions at the OECD please check that you meet the following criteria:

  • You are a national of an OECD member country *
  • You are less than 65 years of age
  • You are fluent in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) with a knowledge of or willingness to learn the other

* There are specific exemptions to this rule, which may be referred to in the job description. Please refer to Regulation 6 in the OECD Staff Regulations for more information.

Recruitment process

Official Positions

Recruitment process Officials

Following the interview assessment, candidates who have not been selected but have been recognised to have relevant competencies may be considered within the next two years for comparable job openings that fit their profile. In such cases, the candidates will be contacted directly.

Official recruitment process generally take between 4 and 6 months.

Advice for applicants

The OECD is a knowledge-based organisation, and the people are vital to the Organisation’s ability to deliver on its mission and work programme. Through the recruitment process we want better understand your background, experiences and skills and fit for the position and organisation.

During your interview, you will be asked a mix of technical questions pertaining to the position, as well as competency questions based on those referred to in the job description and according to the level of the position. The new OECD Core Competency Framework was launched on 1 October 2023 and will apply to new applications from that point forward. For applications submitted before 1 October 2023, please continue to refer to the previous OECD Competency Framework.
