The Global Forum on tax transparency assists Tunisia for its peer review on the exchange of information on request

 

05/04/2018 - A two member team from the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes visited Tunisia from 26-30 March 2018 to provide it with technical assistance in the preparation of its upcoming peer review against the international standard of exchange of information on request. The peer review is scheduled to be launched in the third quarter of 2018.

The technical assistance team comprising Mr. Hakim Hamadi and Mr. Ervice Tchouata, Global Forum Tax Policy Analysts, held discussions with several officials from the Tax Administration, the Central bank, the Financial Intelligence Unit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the Company Register to identify areas where improvements were needed.

 

This was followed by a two-day seminar on “Exchange of Information as a Tool to Combat Offshore Tax Evasion” in Tunis, Tunisia on 29-30 March 2018, which was attended by 30 participants. This seminar aims to train the tax auditors to combat offshore tax evasion under the MENA Transition Fund Programme.

 

The technical assistance was provided under the MENA Transition Fund Programme “Enhancing Domestic Resource Mobilisation through Effective Tax System Design and Improved Transparency and International Cooperation”.
