Salvador Malo has a long career in higher education. He has served as Secretary General at the National University of Mexico, as Director General for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education, and is currently Director General of CENEVAL, Mexico's Centre for the Assessment of Higher Education.
 
In addition to his duties in these positions he has been actively involved in international activites. He participated in the Tri-lateral Task Force for higher education between Canada, Mexico and the United States, is at present head of the board of the Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration, and is promoting a Higher Education project in Latin America.
