Biographie Dominique de la Garanderie

 

Dominique de La Garanderie is the founding partner of La Garanderie & Partners.  An expert in social legislation, she taught labor law at the Université de Paris II and at the Ecole supérieure de commerce de Paris.  Former President of the National Center for Lawyer-Employers (Centre national des avocats employeurs) and the social chapter of the International Union of Lawyers (UIA), she presently participates in the Ethics Committees of the French Business Movement (MEDEF).

Former member of the office of the National Advisory Council of the Bars (bureau du Conseil national des barreaux), Dominique de La Garanderie was, in 1998, the first woman to be elected President (Bâtonnier) of the Paris Bar.  She was a member of the Council of the Paris Bar (Conseil de l’Ordre) and President of the International Section of the National Bar Council and Chief of the French Delegation to the Council of the European Bars until 2006. In addition to her role as President of the Association of Women Lawyers of France (Association française des femmes juristes), which was created at her initiative, she is also Chairwoman of the French Institute of International Legal Experts (IFEJI).

From 1999 to 2005, Dominique de La Garanderie was appointed by the prime minister of France to the National Advisory Committee on Human Rights, where she serves as Vice-President of the Committee on Children’s Rights.  She is also a member of the International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH) and Avocats sans frontières.

She has been a Member of the Board of Renault since 2003 and of Holcim Compagnie since 2006. As Vice-Chairman of the OECD Business Sector Group on Corporate Governance, she participated in the deliberations on Board Responsibilities.
