The OECD and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) China have a longstanding cooperation with the primary goal of further developing and enhancing the system of national accounts for China. For this purpose, an annual workshop is organised, usually in China. Up to now, attention was predominantly paid to improving the data on the production process, including the compilation of supply and use tables and input output tables. In the future attention will also be paid to the enhancement of so-called institutional sector accounts, which describe the generation and distribution of income, the investment in non-financial and financial assets, and the stocks of assets and liabilities as represented in the balance sheets.
