Over the past decades many countries have been successful in closing gender gaps in academic achievement. PISA reveals that boys and girls generally perform at the same level in science. However, gender differences remain in science performance among the highest achieving students and even among boys and girls that are equally proficient in science, their attitudes towards learning and aspirations for their future are different.
