Digital Government in Mexico
Mexico has solidly established itself as a global and regional leader in digital government and open government data. However, as digital government matures - and digital becomes a cross-cutting reality requiring alignment across policy areas - digital leaders need to secure effective coordination in support of a coherent and cohesive digital transformation across the entire public sector.
This policy brief assesses the evolution, achievements and challenges of the digital government policy in Mexico. The analysis aims to inform the formulation of strategic policy recommendations for the Mexican government on reinforcing the governance of digital government to accelerate the digital transformation of its public sector. The report highlights the relevance of sound institutional, regulatory and policy frameworks as enablers of sustained and long-term policy results. This includes the provision of digital, inclusive, user-driven public services that leverage data and emerging technologies to enhance public trust, social inclusion and well-being.
The report was prepared by the OECD Secretariat at the request of the National Digital Strategy Co-ordination (Coordinación de la Estrategia Digital Nacional, CEDN) at the Office of the President in Mexico with the support of the Ministry of Public Administration (Secretaría de la Función Pública, SFP), and the Research and Innovation Centre on Information and Communications Technology (INFOTEC).
