Workshop on Data Collection for Long-term Investment

10 May 2017 - Paris, France

The Workshop on Data Collection for Long-term Investment took place as part of the G20/OECD Task Force on Institutional Investors and Long-term Financing.

The discussion built on relevant work including proposals for potential research agenda made in the OECD note: “Addressing Data Gaps in Long-term Investment: An Agenda for Research”. This note, developed jointly with the OECD Statistics Directorate (STD) and delivered to the G20, proposes a research agenda for addressing the main gaps in information for understanding the drivers and impediments of long-term investment. The note builds on the FSB, IMF, OECD and World Bank project from 2014 to develop a set of key quantitative indicators for long-term investment finance, which has been further developed in cooperation with other countries and international organisations (IOs), e.g. Canada, Italy, the BIS and the OECD.

Discussions focused on relevant data collection exercises to support the future work of the Task Force, including work developed by the OECD including:

  • Data Gaps in Long-term Investment and Mobilisation of Private Sector Financing
  • Asset Allocation of Institutional investors
  • Infrastructure as an Asset Class

This Workshop was organised within the framework of the OECD Project on Institutional Investors and Long-Term Investment.
