OECD at UN Climate Action Summit 2019

The OECD actively participated in the UN Climate Action Summit on the theme "A Race We Can Win. A Race We Must Win" through official high-level events and by taking part in a number of workshops, seminars and other events throughout the summit, and NYC Climate Week during 23-24 September 2019 at the UN Headquarters. 

Spotlight: Main OECD High-Level events

  • 23 September - Placing Well-being at the Heart of Climate Policy

Jointly organised with the Permanent Missions of the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, and the Office of the Special Representative of the OECD to the United Nations, The event explored how to increase the incentives for early and ambitious mitigation action by systematically taking account of the synergies and trade-offs between mitigation actions and wider well-being objectives. OECD Secretary-General presented highlights from the OECD report Accelerating Climate Action: Refocusing Policies Through a Well-Being Lens.

  • 24 September - High-Level Roundtable on Aligning Development Co-operation with the Objectives of the Paris Agreement

This high-level roundtable brought together global leaders on development and climate change to discuss the challenges and priorities for aligning development co-operation activities with the Paris Agreement’s objectives and to highlight the key messages of the OECD report on the topic.
