Economics and policies for biodiversity: OECD's response

Biodiversity – life on earth – and the ecosystems services that stem from it, provide invaluable benefits to human health, well-being and our economies. Yet global trends in biodiversity continue to decline. While the Convention on Biological Diversity has long recognised the importance of biodiversity and the need to conserve and sustainably use it, two of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals now explicitly focus on terrestrial and on marine ecosystems. The OECD provides analysis and good practice insights for biodiversity policy, to enhance its environmental effectiveness, economic efficiency and distributional equity.
