Closing the gap between the actual and the desired level of investments to achieve the SDGs is clearly beyond the reach of governments and public lenders. Only with resolute engagement from the private sector, notably through partnerships with the public sector, can this be addressed.

The OECD Policy Dialogue on Natural Resource-based Development will have a two-day meeting, in order to bring together representatives of governments, extractive industries, civil society and think tanks and will afford opportunities to advance the work under the different Streams of Work, according to the roadmap agreed upon at the Sixth Meeting of the Policy Dialogue on 22-23 June 2016.

Based on an inclusive consultation that concluded in Kenya at the Global Partnership’s Second High-Level Meeting (HLM2), the Nairobi Outcome Document was released on 1 December 2016. This document will help to shape how existing and new development actors can partner to implement Agenda 2030 and realise the SDGs.

The 2016 Forum will discuss the opportunities and challenges of the urbanisation process in Africa, looking into how to address informality in urban areas, the role of cities as drivers of economic transformation, and innovative ways to provide adequate and predictable financing for local governments and municipalities.

The theme of the 2016 Forum taking place in Paris on 3 June is "New Challenges and Innovative Partnerships in a Shifting World". Key issues on the agenda include redefining partnerships to support inclusive and sustainable growth, and innovative policies to increase productivity and tackle inequalities.

Forum 2016, entitled Productive economies, Inclusive societies will be organised around the 3 cross-cutting themes of the OECD Week: inclusive growth and productivity, innovation and the digital economy, and international collaboration for implementing international agreements (COP21 and the Sustainable Development Goals) and standards (BEPS and automatic exchange of information).

The PARIS21 Annual Meetings fall shortly after the UN Statistical Commission where we expect to agree on an indicator framework for measuring the SDGs. This year we have organised a “tradeshow” where various partners can showcase and present their existing or new projects and initiatives that contribute to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals agenda.
