The International Economic Forum on Latin America and the Caribbean is a yearly high-level event that brings together policy-makers, CEOs, and experts from Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe to discuss the region’s economic performance and share solutions to its development challenges. The Forum is co-organised by the OECD Development Centre, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Agence Française de Développement.

 

2023 - Towards renewed partnerships for sustainable development

The 15th edition of the forum took place on 6 June 2023. It explored thgreen transition as an opportunity to move towards more sustainable and inclusive models in the region.

2022 - Green transition for Latin America and the Caribbean

The 14th edition of the forum took place on 8th of June 2022. It invited civil society, policy makers, private sector actors, and high-level representatives of international organisations to explore the role of the region in shaping a new green global order.

The 13th edition of the forum took place on 27th of May 2021. It invited LAC countries and partners to reflect upon a new global agenda, in efforts to design innovative strategic partnerships to reduce vulnerabilities and build forward better.

2020 - Rethinking the social contract in times of COVID-19

The 12th edition of the forum took place online, on Tuesday, 15th of December 2020. The Forum focused on the policy priorities for the post-COVID agenda. It brought together civil society and public and private sector leaders, as well as high-level representatives of international organisations to share their solutions and add to the debate. The event took place as we mark the 60th anniversary of the signing of the OECD Convention.

2019 - Technology: a driver of (in)equality?

The 11th edition of the forum took place on 24 May 2019 in Paris. The Forum focused on the relationship between inequalities and technologies and shared best practices towards more inclusive societies within the countries of the region. The Forum participants also discussed the technological environment and innovation incentives as enablers to ensure more equal LAC economies.

2018 - Towards open, fair and prosperous societies

The 10th edition of the forum took place on 28 May 2018 in Paris. In addition to analysing the region’s macroeconomic outlook, the 2018 Forum focused on how to re-build the state-citizens-market nexus, by strengthening institutions and making governments better able to respond to their citizen’s demands and achieve people’s well-being.

2017 - Rethinking globalisation for youth and inclusive development

The 9th of the forum edition took place on 9 June 2017 in Paris, and featured, in addition to an analysis on the region’s macroeconomic outlook, a focus on the impact of new global economic and trade policies on Latin American and Caribbean economies. Participants will also discuss the importance of revitalizing the regional integration process and the potential for reviving the regional economy through youth entrepreneurship.

2016 - New challenges and innovative partnerships in a shifting world

The 8th of the forum edition took place on 3 June 2016 in Paris, and featured two thematic panels with high-level government representatives, business leaders and philanthropy, offering privileged dialogue and networking opportunities. Back-to-back with the Forum, the OECD Development Centre held the Latin America-focused meeting of its Emerging Markets Network (EMnet), a platform for policy dialogue and analysis of challenges and opportunities for doing business in Latin America and the Caribbean.

2015 - Better strategies for a sustainable development

 

The 7th edition of the Forum provided the opportunity to discuss challenges and to share solutions regarding sustainable economic development in the region. 

2014 - Beyond the golden decade? Logistics and infrastructure, pillars of regional integration and global trade opportunities

 

The 6th edition of the Forum took place in Paris on 30 June 2014. After providing an overview of the economic outlook of the region, the Forum asked how governments and private sector actors can promote logistics, infrastructure and industrial policies as instruments for regional and global economic integration, inclusive growth and structural transformation in the region.

 

2013 - Empowering entrepreneurship for competitiveness

 

The 5th edition of the Forum took place in Paris on 31 May 2013. After providing an overview of the economic outlook of the region, the Forum asked how governments in the region can engage reforms in favour of higher productivity by more adequately addressing the needs of SMEs and by better including them in the production structure.

 

2012 - Enhancing reforms for competitiveness and inclusion

 

The 4th edition of the Forum took place in Paris on 25 May 2012. The Forum provided the opportunity to ask how the region can engage reforms in favour of competitiveness, productivity and inclusive growth, and embrace the full potential of its newly acquired strength and stability.

 

2011 - Finding new factors of growth in a world of shifting wealth

 

The third edition of the forum took place in Paris on 24 January 2011. The Forum was organised around three sessions which focused on the place and position of Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries in the G20 agenda, the opportunities and challenges brought by the commodity boom in the region, and the role of middle class in development.
