seminar in hanoi 2018

VIETNAM, NOVEMBER 2018. The European Union Social Protection Systems Programme (EU-SPS) presented its new report on extending social insurance coverage among Viet Nam’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on 26 November. Alexander Pick from the OECD Development Centre presented the report at the Institute of Labour Science and Social Affairs (ILSSA) at a seminar on social insurance co-organised by ILSSA and the International Labour Organisation. Viet Nam has made impressive progress in increasing the proportion of the workforce covered by social insurance in recent years but very low levels of coverage amongst SMEs are a major constraint to universal coverage. This new EU-SPS report analyses the constraints to higher coverage in the sector and proposes policies to overcome them. The EU-SPS is a four-year programme lasting from 2015-2019 and is co-financed the European Union, the OECD and the Government of Finland. ‌
