"Greening Finance for Climate Action"
Pre-Forum Breakfast Event
1 April 2015
About the event
This breakfast event considered effective means to mobilise all financial resources to support climate action and sustainable development, taking into account the role of domestic enabling conditions and key policy reforms, and where learning from past development experiences can inform actions for both climate and sustainable development benefits.
The objective of the event was to:
- Contribute to the ongoing discussion on climate and development finance in the lead up to the July Financing for Development Conference (in Addis Ababa) with a view to informing a process that maximises the resources acailable and boosts the effectiveness of these for sustainable development.
- Complement discussions under the UNFCCC, where the focus is on delivery of the USD 100 billion commitment, to consider how to mobilise, scale up and deliver financing for sustainable development with mutual benefits for climate action and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Questions for discussion
- How can development and climate finance be used to pursue common sustainable development objectives set by developing countries and delivered with the support of the international community?
- How can development and climate actors work together to learn from each other and deliver the know-how and finance needed to deliver equitable and inclusive sustainable development?
- Can or should climate and development finance be considered sustainable development finance from 2020 onwards? What are the risks and benefits of such an approach?
