Agricultural pesticides and biocides

Agricultural Pesticides

Pesticides are chemical or biological products used in agriculture to protect plants. The objective of the OECD Pesticide Programme is to help governments co-operate in assessing and reducing the risks of agricultural pesticides. The OECD encourages governments to share the work of pesticide registration and develops tools to monitor and minimise pesticide risk to health and the environment. Non-agricultural pesticides are dealt with under the OECD Biocide Programme.

What's new

OECD releases the Global Harmonised Submission Transport Standard (GHSTS) version 2.0

GHSTS v2.0 supports use in other regulated domains as well as the pesticides domain. GHSTS v2.0 also includes improvements in the lifecycle management of documents over a series of submissions for one regulatory action. The improvements are described on the GHSTS website.

The GHSTS is a standardised set of technical specifications used to assemble electronic files in a predefined manner for evaluation. Once assembled according to the specifications, the files within the dossier can be transferred from a business entity to a regulatory authority and can be extracted for use in a regulatory process.

Regulatory authorities in the pesticide and other regulated domains are invited to use the GHSTS.
