Our intention is that the accession process should foster economic growth in Colombia, help to reduce inequalities, improve education and increase transparency and efficiency in government. The beneficiaries of these changes and of OECD membership will be the country as a whole and each of its citizens.

It is a great pleasure to be here to mark the beginning of another very important collaborative initiative between the OECD and the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS). Our achievements have grown in strength since early 2012, when we released the first reviews of public procurement for the IMSS.

Persistent growth disappointments are weighing on current expectations of future growth and feeding into weak trade, investment, productivity, and wages. Breaking out of this trap is essential if strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth is to be achieved.
