Our latest Economic Outlook, released last Wednesday, paints a very bleak picture. The 6% annual decline in global GDP that we project for 2020 is far bigger than any other decline we have seen in the 60 years of the OECD’s existence.

The OECD Economic Outlook which we released earlier today paints a grim picture. Our central scenario, assuming no resurgence of the virus in the coming months, forecasts a 6% decline in global GDP in 2020 – the largest annual decline in the OECD’s 60-year history.

What is truly extraordinary, though, is the context for this Economic Outlook, and its consequences for the global economy. We are in the midst of a combined global health, economic and social crisis that is the most severe that any of us have ever witnessed.
