Geoff Barnard is an advisor to the Secretary-General.
In this capacity, he works directly with the Secretary-General to achieve his strategic objectives with a particular focus on economics, finance, employment, digitalisation and social issues.
He joined the OECD in 2007 after 15 years at the IMF, including stints as a resident representative in Russia and as the Fund’s representative to the WTO in Geneva. Until January 2016 he worked in the Economics Department as head of the Russia/South Africa desk and then in the Office of the Chief Economist, before joining the Office of the Secretary-General.
He was educated at Cambridge, LSE and McGill.
